How to Add and Exit Groups on WhatsApp

To join an open group

Find the open group you want to join in the WhatsApp app and tap the "Join Group" button to join it without waiting for approval.

Join a private group

Find the private group you want to join in the WhatsApp app, tap Request to initiate a join request, choose which group administrator to send the request to, and tap the Confirm button. If the administrator approves your request, you will automatically be added to the private group.

Logging out of a group chat:

First, go to the WhatsApp group chat you want to opt out of.

On iPhone, tap the group name at the top of the screen to open the group menu. /On Android, tap the three dots and select More.

Scroll down to the bottom of the menu, tap "Exit Group," and click the "Exit" button to confirm your decision to leave.

(Note: Only the designated administrator will be notified of your departure, while other group members will not be notified, but profile information may remain in the "Past Participants" list in "Group Info" for up to 60 days).
